The Cheech opens a 126-work Chicano art show on migration and identity
The Cheech · 3581 Mission Inn Ave., Riverside · Open Tue–Sun, 10 a.m.–5 p.m. · Adults $17.95, kids 12 and under free. The Cheech Marin Center for Chicano Art & Culture marked its fourth anniversary with We the People: Chicano Art in the U.S.A., which opened June 1 and draws 126 works by 61 artists from Cheech Marin's collection, the museum's permanent holdings, recent acquisitions, and artist loans.
Curator Benito Huerta organized the show around identity, migration, labor, and community, telling KVCR he chose works that reference the current moment. It's the marquee draw at The Cheech this weekend, with the permanent collection and lobby's shape-shifting lenticular installation by the de la Torre brothers alongside it.
