Splash pads to beat a 90-degree weekend

Citrus Belt Review: With the corridor forecast to hit the low 90s Friday and hold in the high 80s through the weekend, the region's free splash pads are the low-cost play for families with kids. Hours below come from each city or operating district; where a pad's hours aren't posted, call the operating agency before you go.

Corona. The city runs Citrus Park (1250 Santana Way) and Ridgeline Park (2850 Ridgeline Dr.), both 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily through September. Dos Lagos Park (at The Shops at Dos Lagos) and Deleo Regional Sports Park (25655 Santiago Canyon Rd.) also list splash pads; confirm hours before heading out, as Deleo is county-run rather than city-run.

Eastvale. The Jurupa Community Services District operates the pads at Dairyland Park (14520 San Remo) and Cedar Creek Park (6709 Cedar Creek Rd.), both 10 a.m. to dusk and in season through October.

Jurupa Valley. Glen Avon Heritage Park has a splash pad run by the Jurupa Area Recreation and Park District; hours aren't posted, so check with JARPD.

Riverside. The city's Doty Trust Park pad (5410 Golden Ave.) runs 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., seven days a week, one of several Riverside city pads on the same summer schedule.

Perris. Enchanted Hills Park (1400 Weston Rd.) runs its splash pad weekends from 10 a.m.

Bring water shoes and sunscreen wherever you land.
