RUSD locks in design specs and boundaries for new Eastside Elementary

The Riverside Record: The RUSD Board of Education on Thursday unanimously approved design guidelines and the attendance boundary for the soon-to-open Eastside elementary school, clearing one of the last steps before construction. The boundary runs from University Avenue on the north to the 91 freeway on the west, Dwight and Douglass avenues on the east, and cuts through Victoria Club on the south — the option residents said most reduces students having to cross University and 14th Street.

About 800 students currently split across seven elementary schools would transfer to the new campus when it opens. Alcott and Pachappa would lose hundreds of students; families at Longfellow and Emerson get priority if they choose to transfer in. The board picks a developer on June 4.
