Riverside ballots mailed after May 26 may not be postmarked on time

Raincross Gazette: The Riverside County Registrar mailed about 1.4 million ballots May 4 for the June 2 primary. California requires a postmark on or before Election Day; a ballot postmarked June 3 won't count. With May 25 a federal postal holiday, Riverside officials recommend mailing by May 26 at the latest. Drop boxes (open until 8 p.m. June 2) and hand-stamped postmarks at a post office counter both avoid the issue.
