San Bernardino's Tran wins a second term outright; Valdivia comeback fails

Community Forward Redlands: Incumbent Mayor Helen Tran won a second term outright Tuesday, taking 54.6% of the vote and clearing the majority needed to skip a November runoff. John Valdivia, who lost the office in 2022 and sought a comeback, came in last among six candidates with 7.1%.

Three council seats also drew runoffs: Virginia Marquez and Ron Alvarado in Ward 1, Christian Shaughnessy and Benito Barrios in Ward 2, and Fred Shorett and Joe Salas in Ward 4 — the last pair separated by under a point heading to November. Results are unofficial final with all county precincts reporting.
