Eric Bishop takes over as permanent Riverside City College president

The appointment closed a national search run through a 16-member committee of faculty, staff, management, and community members. Bishop's confirmation steadies a seat that churned through several interim and permanent leaders after Claire Oliveros was removed by a board no-confidence vote in 2025.

Bishop came up through enrollment management and student services, with prior stops leading Ohlone College in Fremont and serving as interim vice chancellor at the district. RCC enrolls roughly 30,000 students; the college is a core feeder into the regional labor market, and a settled presidency sets the direction on the program and training decisions IE employers track.
