IE unemployment slips to 4.9% as construction leads April hiring
California EDD: Inland Empire unemployment fell to 4.9% in April, down from a revised 5.1% in March on the not-seasonally-adjusted measure — under California's 5% and above the nation's 4%. Riverside and San Bernardino counties added 5,600 nonfarm jobs over the month, to 1,722,600. Construction led every sector with 2,800 new jobs; private education and health services added 1,500, most of it in health care and social services. Government was the lone real drag, shedding 400.
